A LITTLE DICTIONARY OF LEBANESE FOODS & WORDS

YALLA YALLA

Meaning Chop Chop ! Hurry up  .... Our Chosen name for our Lebanese Street Food
Yalla yalla" is an Arabic phrase that roughly translates to "Let's go" or "Hurry up" in English. It's commonly used to urge someone to move quickly or to encourage action such as cooking yummy food.

HABIBI

Yalla" and "habibi" are both commonly used Arabic words. "Yalla" means "let's go" or "hurry up" and "habibi" means "my beloved" or "my darling." They often go together because "yalla" is urging someone to move or act quickly, while "habibi" adds a sense of affection or endearment to the request, creating a friendly and encouraging tone. So, when someone says "yalla yalla habibi," they're essentially saying "let's go, my beloved," combining urgency with warmth.
